Cold? War Action
By Michael Grandy
Good stuff:
I believe the author said this (along with the previous book) is part of his Cold War arc. Well, don't be tricked into thinking that means there won't be much action. Sorilla still finds plenty of stuff to fight and enemy plots to upset. In addition to her just being a bad-ass we get some looks at her self-doubts and lone-wolf flaws. Finally the book ends with her making some tough calls, we'll probably see the really nasty fall out of those choices in the later books. Will be interesting to see how our hero handles the guilt, when she's already struggling with guilt over all the bad things that happened which she couldn't control.

Plot wise I was pleasantly surprised. From the synopsis I had expected this to be a filler book, just creating some excuses to give Sorilla stuff to do during a time of peace, but instead I felt it fit nicely into the big picture plot. We get some more insights into the Ross and some more of their background is revealed. The book put forth a couple of different theories on what the Ross are doing, and although none of them entirely made sense to me, that's just because we're still not seeing the whole picture.

The last book did a good job setting up the "we're at peace now" setting, and this one did a good job transitioning from that into a more antagonistic cold war sort of situation. I'm really looking forward to see how the fall out from this book mixes with the politics of the last book.

Bad stuff:
There are a few obvious typo's, like whole words missing from sentences ect... I didn't take notes, but it don't remember seeing it so much in the last half the book.

Like some of the previous books there isn't much new science/tech stuff and I found the re-explaining of old tech sort of boring. For example, the orbital drops were really cool the first few times, but at this point I just sort of zone out while the authors hyping up how cool it is.

The new alien race was, well new, but so far more of a tease than satisfying (how do they see! It gets hinted at like three times and never resolved).

I recently found out gravity waves only travel at the speed of light in real life, so some of the gravity stuff is starting to feel more techno-babble than theoretical hard-science cool.

Finally, I think I mentioned this in a previous book, but it really bugs me how Sorilla withholds important information from her teammates. If she's doing it so they aren't tempted to take risks (so she can take all the risk on herself and save them from danger...) then I'd like some internal dialog to back that up (but frankly she should trust them to follow her orders, even if they are fully aware of the risks she's taking), instead it feels like she does it just to be melodramatic, and that doesn't fit with her selfless and pragmatic personality.

Conclusion:
This book is right up there with the previous books. I only give it four stars because I thought some of the plot and science/tech bits were more repetitive than innovative. But frankly I just set really high standards for sequels and if you liked the previous books I'm sure you'll love this one as well.

Good military Sci-Fi with a lot of action!
By JJCEO
I love Sci-Fi books especially military Sci-Fi. I have read about 15 of the books written by Evan Currie and they are very good stories. I have read the entire series of On Silver Wings and I enjoyed the books.

Captain Sorilla Aida is a fighting maniac with superior fighting skills and an intellect to match. With her battle suit and her implants she is a super human that can hold her own in any confrontation that she runs into. The Ross’El are taking over a small moon inhabited by billions of sentient aliens. Her job is to find out why they want the moon and how to stop them. She is sent in with with a minimal crew and most of them are green recruits with limited battle skills. Their job is to organize the local aliens into a rebellion force and try to stop the Ross’El from capturing the entire moon’s population or worse yet, destroying the moon entirely. What she finds amazes even herself and it can help turn the war with the Alien Alliance in Earth’s favor, especially when it comes to the advanced weapon technologies that are used by the Ross’El aliens……

This was a good story and full of action. I enjoyed the story and I recommend the book, especially if you are a fan of the series On Silver Wings. There are some typos in the book and some use of the wrong words but there are not a lot that I marked during my reading. Since I liked the book so much and will continue to purchase newly released books in the series, I rate this at 5 stars.

An absolute winner!
By Book Junkie, MD
The newest chapter in this great military sci-fi series by Evan Currie once again focuses on my favorite protagonist, the hard assed female special forces warrior Aida Sorilla. Without a doubt, this soldier is one of my all time favorite heroes and I gobble up Aida's stories like so much candy.

I read a lot of sci-fi, but I find Mr Currie's mix of space opera and special forces tactics on the ground to be unique and extremely thought provoking. It is unusual to find military sci fi that spends as much time on the psychology of war as it does on blowing things up, but Mr. Currie strikes the right balance

In this volume the mystery of the Ross-El (in my imagination they are the Greys from X-files and Area 51) continues, but we gain valuable insight into their intentions and abilities while we see Aida craft a resistance on a minor alien world and kick some alien ass.

All in all an extremely satisfying addition to the series and a book I could not put down.

Mr. Currie, I see the writing on the wall, but please don't let Aida retire for a few more books!
